Hannah joined Quay Chambers as a barrister sole in February 2019. She specialises in criminal defence, healthcare litigation, professional discipline and general civil litigation.
Hannah began her career in 2012 working for criminal defence barrister, Ron Mansfield KC. She gained a wide range of experience working with clients facing a variety of allegations including for serious violent and sexual offending; fraud; arson; traffic offences; serious drug charges; manslaughter; and murder.
From 2015, Hannah worked for Harry Waalkens KC primarily in the medico-legal arena. She has assisted professional clients in responding to patient complaints, enquiries from regulatory authorities, and in dealing with disciplinary processes. She is also experienced in privacy law and general civil litigation, including judicial review.
Hannah has appeared on matters in the District Court, High Court, and Court of Appeal, and before the Health Practitioners Disciplinary Tribunal, Teachers Disciplinary Tribunal, Parole Board and the Human Rights Review Tribunal. In the Tongan jurisdiction, she has also appeared before the Public Service Tribunal, Supreme Court of Tonga, and Court of Appeal of Tonga.
Hannah is based in Auckland but is available to act on matters across New Zealand. She is admitted to the Bar in the Kingdom of Tonga and is able to take instructions from Tongan Law Practitioners in both civil and criminal matters.
